It’s coming! Android 3.0, codenamed Gingerbread, has joined its tasty friends Eclair and Froyo in the Google HQ. This probably signals the imminent arrival of the latest installment of the mobile OS, which is rumoured to have a larger emphasis on the user interface and ease-of-use. Not to say that it won’t bring some new software functionality though, it should also feature some cutting edge features as Google seeks to move ahead of RIM and Apple in the pack once again.

Mere months after the launch of Android 2.2, discussions about the impending release of Android 3.0, or “Gingerbread,” are gushing. Android 3.0 is rumored to be released sometime in the next few weeks, and will be a significant overhaul of Google’s market-dominatingsmartphone OS — and may be the first truly tablet-ready iteration of Android.
What to Expect
Phandroid broke the news about Android 3.0 (replete with the lamest, blurriest “leaked” photo I’ve ever seen). Here’s what they say will be included:

Built-in video chat support: The iPhone 4′s FaceTime video chat made a splash — and ...

I have been holding off writing about this debate, but I have found that various articles comparing the two mobile platforms miss something rather critical.
Yesterday Jobs made a jab at Android by referencing TweetDecks graphic, saying that the openness of the platform creates fragmentation, and implied that developing for this fragmentation is an issue and doesn’t make it as good of a product as his closed IOS.
Iain Dodsworth responded to Jobs saying that it wasn’t a “nightmare” to develop software for Android. He went on further to say that he ...

Android releases have all been named after dessert type food, from Cupcake to FroYo (Frozen Yogurt). The up-coming 3.0 release is to be called Gingerbread. We already know that the release after GB is going to be called Honeycomb, but what will 4.0 be?
Ice Cream.
I guess the options are limited with the letter “I”. I’m hoping that the “J” release will be Jammie Dodger. With a limit edition release of the world’s favourite jam filled biscuits sporting an Android in the centre.

The wait is finally over… Angry Birds has finally arrived on Android!
If you have not had a chance to check it out, it is a rather simple, yet addictive game of launching birds at a gathering of pigs in order to get the highest score. Each level is rather unique and offers a different challenge.
This non beta version now available is supposed to have 150 levels, and is free of charge. You may have to put up with a few ads, but the Angry Birds team has said that they ...

The Nexus one, along with some other phones, have the hardware for an FM radio but for some reason they do not have any software. The main problem is that this software is needed at the operating system level before any applications can take advantage of the feature.
Well, there is good news from Cyanogen. The experimental nightly builds now include the required software and application to listen in to FM radio on your Nexus One.
I have tested it out and it works better than expected. The sound is quite clear ...

Congratulations to HTC on scooping two awards at T3′s 2010 awards. The Android powered HTC Desire won Phone of The Year, beating the iphone4.
The Desire nearly matches the iPhone in a number of key areas, looks clean-lined and functional, and it does it cheaper and on an open platform. Android Market is starting to rival the App Store for quality wares, as well. – T3
HTC also won Tech Brand of The Year, which is testament to the quality and quantity of the products they are making. For a company that few would have ...
